Our History

The Ringwood Surgery was established in 1983 when Dr Seng Yap Leong relocated his original practice from St Kilda to Ringwood. In 1996, Dr Paul Lee joined the practice as the Principal Dentist. Dr Leong continued practising and mentoring, but was able to spend more time pastoring the church in Rowville. The Ringwood Surgery kept growing, and we became officially known as Brighter Smiles Family Dental Care in 2006. The Mitcham Branch was opened in 2010 to better service the needs of the patients in our community. 

We were amongst the first practices nationwide to achieve Accreditation and continue to maintain the high level of care required to be accredited. We look forward to serving the local community in the years to come, helping you maintain healthy teeth and create a Brighter Smile in a caring and friendly environment!

VALE ~ Dr Seng Yap Leong

Dr Leong graduated from The University of Singapore in 1965. He migrated to Australia with his family in 1976 and has been practicing general dentistry in Melbourne over 40 years. He has spent the last few years practising part time, predominantly in Orthodontics. Golf was his hobby and his church work was his passion, and he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Dr Seng Yap Leong passed away June 2017. We will all miss him and thank him for his friendship, guidance and faithful service over the many years.
