Children's Dentistry

Good dental hygiene helps reduce the incidence of tooth decay and infection and can help your children’s teeth last as long as possible. That’s why it’s important to learn good dental hygiene as early as possible to build good dental habits that will last a lifetime.

All our dentists at Brighter Smiles Family Dental Care offer a caring, gentle approach for all patients, but especially for our younger patients. Even though a visit to the dentist can feel intimidating, we understand the importance of having positive experiences at a young age.

We are passionate about ensuring that your child learns great dental hygiene as early as possible. We are also passionate to ensure that their experience with us is a good one, setting them up for a great future.

We recommend that your child has their first dentist visit at around 2 ½ - 3 years old. If you have any concerns, or notice anything unusual, about your child’s teeth, gums, jaw or mouth you should book an appointment as soon as possible. Early intervention can avoid or reduce future pain and the need for more serious intervention.

At your child’s appointments, your dentist will look at not just their teeth, but also their bite (how their teeth come together), gums, cheeks, habits, hygiene and nutrition. Some of our dentists are parents themselves and all our dentists are experienced and trained to talk to and deal with children in an age appropriate and caring manner.

It is important to care for young mouths to achieve the best possible outcomes for later life. We are committed to building positive early experiences for all children and helping protect their smiles for their future.

Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule

Your child may be eligible for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) if you, or your child, receive certain payments from Medicare.

The CDBS is available for eligible children aged 2 to 17. Medicare covers up to $1000 over 2 calendar years for a range of basic dental services, including check-ups, cleaning, fillings, x-rays, fissure sealing, root canals and extractions.

When you book, let us know that you want to use the CDBS and we’ll be able to tell you what your child may be entitled to. For eligible services we provide a No Gap, Fully Bulk Billed Treatment. Talk to us today for more details.
